Not Quite as Good as it Seems

As an avid cake decorator and baker, I couldn't wait to have this carrier, especially for school events! I love the ability to carry 2 dozen cupcakes but was dissappointed in the design. As the bottom tray is intended to cook in, it has standard-sized baking cups. Therefore, when you place a decorated cupcake in it it sinks down and you have to smudge the frosting to get it out! The top tray is shallow so doesn't do that. I have placed marbles in the lower tray cups to elevate the cupcakes which works. 3/5 Elizabeth (Fairfax, VA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oneida 24-Count Cupcake Carrying Case (Kitchen) As an avid cake decorator and baker, I couldn't wait to have this carrier, especially for school events! Great for your everyday cupcake

I was very excited to get this carrier in the mail, as I've gotten somewhat obsessed with baking cupcakes lately. Overall, I think it's great. Easy to use, seals the cakes up well, can be stuck in the fridge (if you have room!) so that they keep longer, etc. However, there are some negative aspects of the product, which is why I've deducted one star. Like others have said, the bottom pan is a real cupcake pan, so once your cakes are decorated and put in there, they're a bear to get out without smudging frosting or getting your hands all goopy. I've tried the advice of others about putting something in the bottom of the cups to raise them just a bit, but then I found that the weight of the cupcakes on top caused the top rack to bow a little and smoosh into the bottom cupcakes. I've opted for goopy hands from now on and removed the "risers" on the bottom, but I'm worried what will happen if I decide to do anything more creative than just smoothing frosting on top. I wish they made one... 4/5 C. Walker "atiecay" (Kansas, USA) - See all my reviews, December 20, 2007

Top tray sags--ruins cupcakes on the bottom

This looks like a good idea, but it doesn't work, for two reasons: 1) The top tray is made of a soft plastic that sags down, making a mess of the surface of the cupcakes below. 2) The bottom tray is a real muffin pan (full depth), so once you put decorated cupcakes in it, you can't get them out without getting frosting on your fingers. I do not recommend this product. 1/5 Dressmaker (Silicon Valley) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oneida 24-Count Cupcake Carrying Case (Kitchen) This looks like a good idea, but it doesn't work, for two reasons: 1) The top tray is made of a soft plastic that sags down, making a mess of the surface of the cupcakes below. 2) The bottom tray is a real muffin pan (full depth), so once you put decorated cupcakes in it, you can't get them out without getting frosting on your fingers. I bought this to use at a baby shower for displaying cupcakes because I'm philosophically opposed to buying kitchen items that do only one thing - so a dedicated cupcake tree was right out. This set worked beautifully. Since the plate portions are not perfectly flat (as you can see in the picture), I used shredded paper basket fill to prevent the cupcakes from tilting inward. Filling the plates with M&Ms or jelly beans or other small loose candies would also perform the same function. A bonus was that, since the tiers are standalone, I didn't have to have them centered - I positioned each stand a little off-center on the one below it.The result looked so good that people assumed I did this for a living - and it was just cupcakes decorated with colored sugar and cupcake picks.I was a little concerned by another reviewer who said that the plate and the foot were cheaply glued together and that the glue was visible, but I think that might have been... 5/5 Verruca (Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) These are the Best !

I bought two of these a couple of years ago. I've done weddings, showers, Christmas parties,etc.. These cannot be beat! The look beautiful holding desserts, party favors, party snacks. I put one on each side of my Chocolate fountain to hold the fruit/snacks that are to be dipped into the chocolate. I am currently placing an order for 3 more, because they hold so much food and they keep the serving table from becoming to crowded. Love them !!!! 5/5 R. 3 Tier Platter a must have for entertaining

This is a great set to have on hand. The simple design mixes and matches with everything you own. Stacked it makes a great holiday centepiece even without food. Just use votives and greenery and voila! Used separately the pieces are available for treats, pies, and look great on the buffet table or at a luncheon with tea sandwiches. All in all-- a GREAT VALUE! 5/5 J. Rudolph "graphic designer" (Fairfax, VA) - See all my reviews, January 11, 2007

    pull-apart dessert tier

I bought this to display mini desserts at my school auction. I thought it was a little smaller than it looked online, but it fitted all my desserts. I layered the desserts so that each tier held a different dessert and placed fresh roses in between the desserts. It looked so pretty - I wasn't expecting the tier to look this good because it is not glass, but it worked really well. It was easy to transport too because all the tiers pull apart - something I didn't know when I looked at this online. So it was easy to push all the tiers together when I was ready to set up my display, and it is easy to store since it stacks neatly into itself once it is disassembled. This also means you can choose to have 2, 3 or 4 tiers. Also the tiers were very sturdy, unlike some tiers that topple easily, this one is quite rigid. I'm loving the tier tower and I know I will use this regularly. 4/5 Skippy (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wilton 4-Tier Stacked Cupcake and Dessert Tower (Kitchen) I bought this to display mini desserts at my school auction. Pretty good

I needed a stand that would hold up to 30 standard size cupcakes at my daughters birthday party and this worked. The only thing I wasn't happy about and didn't see in any of the reviews that I read was that each platform/layer is slightly slopped downward so the cupcakes weren't very secure on the stand which is the reason several cupcakes fell off. No big deal just a slight concern of mine. Still happy I purchased though. It is constructed out of good plastic and can easily be decorated. 4/5 LBarajas (TX) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Love this product!

I've already gotten a lot of use out of this tower. We used it for cupcakes for my son's baptism and 1st birthday party and several people asked me where I'd purchased it. I've also used it to display fruit and it was a huge hit. I love that when not in use, it can be broken down and stored with ease. Doesn't take up any room at all. Love it! 5/5 M. Durable AND beautiful

I'm a dedicated (amateur) home baker who bakes several times a week, and there are two final frontiers still unknown to me: yeast breads and fancy layer cakes. Unlike simple Bundt cakes or single-layer cakes, layer cakes are composed of two (usually three) or more layers of carefully arranged cakes glued together with some sort of icing (fudge, chocolate, buttercream, etc.). If you're trying to assemble and frost a layer cake on a stationary cake stand, it's much harder to achieve a smooth finish when frosting the outside as you have to keep manually turning the stand, which can cause the cake to wobble and become crooked as you're trying to ice it.I decided to take the plunge and invest in an Ateco revolving cake stand. It has a very solid cast iron base with a lovely vintage white finish and a 1/8" aluminum top. It also comes with a nonstick pad that can either be used under the stand to keep it anchored to the countertop, or on top of the stand to stabilize your layer... 5/5 VCQ - See all my reviews, November 17, 2008

    Lovely simple cake stand

Like most people who are occasional bakers, I made do with putting my layer cake experiments on a regular platter covered with 3-4 sheets of plastic wrap. OK for just the family, but a complete embarrassment in front of guests.I'd seen some lovely cake stands at Crate & Barrel and Martha Stewart, but I didn't want to spend $50+ for something I wouldn't use that often, plus most I'd seen didn't come with a cover. When I saw this one on Amazon, a small investment of $15 for a stand and dome seemed just about right. I wasn't expecting much, but when it came in the mail I was very impressed. The set is very simple -- no filagrees, etchings or geegaws attached -- but heavy and well made. The glass is thick enough that I don't fear breakage in handling or cleaning. The stand itself slopes up on the edge, so the dome fits snugly and will not slide off. The set is large, and will accomodate an 11" cake and it would not be a great choice for travelling, due to its size... 5/5 Anonymous (Brooklyn NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: Anchor Hocking Presence Cake Dome Set (Kitchen) Like most people who are occasional bakers, I made do with putting my layer cake experiments on a regular platter covered with 3-4 sheets of plastic wrap. beautiful and functional

This is my first domed cake stand. I got it because I wanted to display a round layer cake for Christmas, and didn't want plastic wrap to mess up the frosting. 2 stacked nine-inch cakes fit perfectly under the dome if you're careful as you put it on - there's not a lot of extra room! I think 8-inch cakes would be easier, but the 9-inch ones DO fit if you center them exactly on the platter. The glass is just the right thickness - nice and sturdy without being bulky. I'm not worried about chipping the rim when I put the dome on. The knob handle gives you a good grasp of the lid, and the ridged pattern around the base is beautiful and retro. I can't speak to any breakage during shipping, because I got mine at a store... but you sure can't beat the price! I got mine for $9.99, and it looks and feels like a much more expensive product. Gorgeous. I expect it to last many years. I'd buy it for friends and family in a heartbeat. The punch bowl it makes seems well balanced and... 5/5 Naomi Witzke "Earlybird78" (New Hope, MN United States) - See all my reviews, December 23, 2007

    Great but not perfect

There are two downfalls to this stand: 1) layers of the stand cannot be removed so you are stuck displaying 23 cupcakes (22 if you remove the top which is the only optional layer) and 2) the cupcake slots are so close together that it is very difficult to fit larger cupcakes in properly. I bought some cupcakes at a local shop and was unable to fit them all in. The display still looked great though and I was happy to have it. 4/5 K. Thompson (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews, November 25, 2007

    poorly designed

I returned it. Perhaps the people who designed this thing never actually used it. The bottom tier is fine. The holders on the rest of the tiers are much smaller (in circumference), not adjustable and don't hold standard size cupcakes, even baked in Wilton's own paper cupcake liners. If you smoosh the cupcakes together they'll sort of hold each other in place. Or you could 'glue' each of the upper cupcakes in place with a little icing. Plus, the tiers are too close together, so the icing must be simple and low, or you must angle the cupcakes outward, which means the icing had better be stiff and the decorations very secure. Angle them out too far and the weight of the icing makes them topple out. Altogether too much fuss. 1/5 J. Sterling (Sunny Southwest, USA) - See all my reviews, November 7, 2009

    LUV IT ! ! !

Anyone with young children will agree . . .If you have a kids party, half the cake usually ends up in the garbage. Now I buy a smaller cake for adults, who will actually eat the cake. And I buy colorful cupcakes for the kids (cupcakes are so much more kid friendly) and they actually get eaten. This was a wonderful idea, luv it ! ! !(just buy extra cupcakes, so you can keep refilling as they disappear) 5/5 Dimemiamor "Dimemiamor7" (USA) - See all my reviews, February 28, 2007

A perfect cupcake display for any occasion

I have used my dessert stand twice now. I have to admit, I was trying to hold out and ask for it for Christmas, but I had a birthday party a few months ago and HAD to have it. I used it again today for a community Christmas party. I love it. It's sturdy, easy to put up and easy to take down. You even get a little mini wrench to help unscrew the tiers. My only problem is the small pieces...my kids took one of the screws and I can't find a replacement...but I used it today without the top 2 tiers and it still worked. I had people wanting to keep it when it came time to pack up and leave. :0) A must have if you serve alot of cupcakes. Makes a GREAT display. 5/5 A. Fun way to display cupcakes

I love this stand! It's cute and fun and sturdy enough to hold candles or other non-cupcake items you'd like to display.I do find it odd that it holds 13 cupcakes (rather than 12) but you can always add a non-cupcake item to the top tier. For best results when baking cupcakes to go on this stand, be sure to bake them in a cupcake tin rather than using the stand-alone foil cups. The stand-alone cupcake liners tend to allow the width of the cupcake to expand a bit and when they do so, no longer fit neatly on the stand without bumping into the other cupcakes. Baking in a tin or stoneware pan limits the final circumference of the cupcakes, allowing them to fit nicely on the rack. 5/5 Carissa (Portland, OR, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wilton 307-831 13 Count Cupcake Stand (Kitchen) I love this stand! Sturdy, presentable, inexpensive cakestand

I bought this 3 tier cake stand to present a wedding cake that had separate small, medium, and large layers to be set on the 3 platforms. The stand was affordable and looked presentable in the picture, and hence I picked it. It came with clear assembly instructions, was easy to assemble, and was very sturdy once assembled (although see below). Note that the 3 plates on the stand are clear molded plastic, not glass or thick plexiglass. Also, it's a bit hard to see from the product photo so I'll note that the 3 plates don't overlap each other above and below - they're fully offset so you can put things on them that are taller than the height between them. Overall the stand did turn out to be clean looking and presentable. For the formality of the wedding reception we draped it with white linen napkins, but I would definitely use it undraped at home for desserts or appetizers at a less formal party. My only complaint is that one of legs was missing the notch needed to stop it from... 4/5 Photog (California, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wilton 307-859 3-Tier Cakes N More Party Stand (Kitchen) I bought this 3 tier cake stand to present a wedding cake that had separate small, medium, and large layers to be set on the 3 platforms. Unexpected

I was surprised when I got the order. First of all, I couldn't tell from the illusion of a picture if the three tiers were together or separate. THEY ARE TOGETHER. AS IN CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER. Each tier fits into holes in the next and they form a stationary three-tiered set. The clear stand is plastic, not glass. 3/5 J. Shannon - See all my reviews, May 12, 2011

    Exactly What I Needed

Everyone is on a budget these days so I decided to make my own wedding cake. Rather than a traditional designed cake, I opted for a desert bar with seasonal pies and a series of cakes that I baked at home. This tray beautifully displayed a large 2 layered carrot cake, a 9 inch blueberry cake and 7 inch raspberry cake. I was able to surround the cakes with silk flowers and the display was just perfect. 8 apple pies, 2 pumpkin and these three cakes were gone in a flash and my husband and I had our picture perfect presentation. The stand was easy to assemble, clean and store. It will be used again this Christmas when I host dinner at our home. 5/5 A. Peltier (New Jersey) - See all my reviews, October 29, 2009
